Song Writing
Song Writing lessons at HMC are designed to teach students of all ages from beginner to diploma level.

This course is designed for both aspiring and songwriters to build and enhance their songwriting skills. We focus on teaching them the structural elements of different genres and musical styles through critical listening, analysis, and actual writing practice.

Course Structure
The course will cover the basic tools used in songwriting and provide weekly writing assignments. Students must have the ability to sing or play an instrument to complete the assignments, and while using digital audio workstations such as Logic Pro X, Ableton, FL Studio, Musescore is encouraged, it is not necessary for recording their songs. Previous songwriting experience is not required but would be helpful, and a basic understanding of music theory is a must. The goal of the course is to deepen students' understanding of songwriting and establish discipline as creative songwriters.
